The Purpose of a Garden
As far as I’m concerned, urban gardens are more about people than plants. Your outdoor space should not just be a horticultural display but a space that is used and enjoyed by people.
Every garden should have at least one spot that comfortably accommodates people. It could be a spot for sharing outdoor meals with friends or perhaps a secluded corner for contemplating… whatever floats your boat… as long as it’s user-friendly and enjoyed by people. 
I usually like to keep it simple and easy but by that I do not mean boring. There are so many clever ways to pop with style
Easy, colourful, exuberant and people-friendly gardens are so much more fun and that’s really the point, isn’t it?

Just because you don’t live near the sea doesn’t mean you can’t have a bonfire on the beach, in your own backyard…
Gravel and pebbles are such a great alternative to high maintenance lawn and it looks so much more interesting.
The contrast here between gravel garden and lawn provides maximum visual impact.
